TROESTER
Tread Cutting machines are used wherever efficient tire
manufacturing is a prime consideration. Apart from their use in
complete TROESTER tread lines, they can also be integrated into
existing lines as independently functioning units.
After passing through the cooling and
drying sections, the profile is cut to the correct length. The cut is
carried out during standstill, that means the machine operates in a
Start/Stop mode. A programmable logic control system regulates the
process and the positioning of the profile according to the pre-selected
length. The profile is fed into the machine via a high-dynamic drive,
specifically designed for this operation. Pneumatically operated clamps
hold the profile during cutting, which is carried out by a rotating
circular knife lubricated by a very fine water spray (mist). Subsequent
drying of the cut surface is therefore no longer necessary. The cutting
and return stroke of the ball-bearing supported knife carriage is by
means of an A.C. motor-driven traversing gear box unit.
During cutting, the continuously extruded
profile assumes the shape of a sagging loop. The loop size is optically
recorded and used for control and regulation purposes, one of which is
the calculation of the start speed. After the completed cut, the profile
is transported away on a combined belt/roller conveyor. A friction
roller conveyor which is either driven by the next transportation unit
or equipped with its own drive forms the end of the cutting unit.
