The impetus for the development of the TWINROT system came from the efforts of leading cable manufacturers to raise markedly the production speeds of HV and EHV cable lines. Prior to this, high voltage cables of this type were predominately produced on special horizontal (MDCV) and vertical (VCV) lines. Apart from the limited cross-linking capacity of these lines, making the production of MV cables uneconomical, they also suffer from further decisive disadvantages. |
