The Triple Cross Head (TQU) is used for the simultaneous extrusion of the inner semiconductor layer, the insulation layer and the outer TQU.jpg (9456 bytes) semiconductor layer. The TROESTER TQU produces single-core cables in voltage classes of 6 KV to over 500 kV. The TQU is employed in catenary lines (CCV), long-die systems (MDCV) and vertical lines (VCV), as well as in hydro silicon and silicon systems. Depending on the area of application, it can be designed for XLPE or EPR compounds..

The TQU is equipped with three computer-calculated flow channels. This enables the same average flow rates and layer thicknesses to be achieved at the die outlet. The flow channels are optimally matched in shape and depth to the viscosities of the insulation and semiconductor materials.

The Triple Cross Head at a glance:
  • long life and low maintenance design;
  • thorough testing prior to delivery;
  • no foreign particles (e.g. dust) between the three layers;
  • smaller space requirement compared to single and dual extrusion systems;
  • conductor pre-heating option;
  • short tooling changeover times;
  • outer semiconductor centering not necessary after initial centering;
  • hardened material flow channel parts (option);
  • minimal re-centering using dial gauges;
  • hydraulic die centering option;
  • perfect sealing and positional accuracy due to conical design;
  • optimized distribution flow channels minimize layer thickness tolerances, thereby saving insulation and semiconductor material..
